Magelang. The Magelang Tourism and Culture Office’s chief, Mundariyah, said the polemic on the Borobudur Temple as one of the world’s wonder has increased people’s curiosity. “They have come to see it for themselves,” Mundariyah said yesterday.
The office recorded an increasing number of people coming to Magelang. Around 2,2 million people visited the city in 2007 and 2,8 million the following year. The number went up to 3 million people in 2009.
The Borobudur Temple Tourism Park General Manager, Pujo Suwarno, said the number of foreign tourists also increased from year to year. There were 129.000 people in 2008 and 153.248 people in 2009.
