Approved 20 new foreign investment projects worth US$16.9 million in Batam, Riau Islands province, in the first quarter of 2010.
12 projects were signed to precede the second phase of Indonesia’s fast-track electricity program, including four projects requiring a total investment of around $541 million.
Indonesia now ranked third in terms of geothermal energy consumption after the United States and the Philippines. Indonesia now only uses 4.2% of its geothermal reserves to generate 1,100 MW of electricity. Indonesia`s geothermal reserves account for 40% of the global geothermal potentials
